What is a cover kit?

A cover kit consists of two tarpaulins, each weighing 65 kg, which are placed on the tennis court. The tarpaulins are attached to the underside of the net with a Velcro strap. Their weight allows two people to easily place or move the device. Ballast bags are supplied with the kit. They help keep the cover in place in windy conditions.

The kit can also be attached to the wire mesh for extra support. The tarpaulins contain practical peripheral eyelets to reinforce their position on the ground.

The usefulness of this cover kit

Tennis courts often fall victim to the laws of nature. Branches, moss, dampness, disappearing paint - these are all potential sources of damage. If you want to play on or come up against an unsuitable court, there's only one thing you can do: postpone your game. And if the damage persists and becomes irreversible, expensive repairs are guaranteed.

The cover kit helps protect the pitch from many of these aggressions. The tarpaulins keep branches and dead leaves from piling up on the pitch. A quick sweep from time to time and the job's done. And if the mood strikes for a game of tennis, simply fold back the tarpaulins and the court is completely clear.

During rainy or snowy weather, the kit protects the tennis court. It prevents too much water from falling on it. Water infiltration is reduced and the creation of moss on the playing surface is minimized. Less water on the court also means less waiting to play after rainy weather. For clay courts, sweeping is no longer a chore. Tarpaulins prevent wind-borne debris from settling on the ground. They prevent the soil from blowing away in strong winds. The surface of the land is guaranteed and maintenance is spaced out. We also note the absence of undesirable plants. With tarpaulins, seeds released by birds no longer land on the pitch itself.

When it comes to paint, maintenance is reduced. Colors tend to fade over time and with prolonged exposure to the sun. With tarpaulins, the ground is less exposed. Colors stay sharp longer.

What about maintenance?

Even so, having a cover kit requires regular maintenance of the tennis court. There are no miracles: if you want things to last, you have to take care of them. We said that annual in-depth maintenance was recommended. With a cover kit, maintenance no longer has to be carried out every year. As the ground is protected daily by the covers, in-depth maintenance every two or three years can do the trick.

Is the roofing kit economical after all?

The answer is yes. It's an investment that will save you a lot of money in the long term. The ground is protected from any damage. We go from annual in-depth maintenance to in-depth maintenance every two or three years.

Repairs to a tennis court can cost between €2,000 and €6,000 incl. VAT. To remove moss from a court, you'll need to calculate €1,000 incl. VAT per year. With the cover kit, this type of maintenance is considerably reduced. As the tarpaulins protect against humidity, there's no need to remove undergrowth every year. Painting work, on the other hand, can cost up to €4,000 incl. VAT (excluding various surface repairs). As the tarpaulins protect the paintwork, this work needs to be carried out less frequently. The cost is minimized.

A roofing kit therefore ensures long-term savings. Buying a tennis court is not only a major expense, it's also an investment in its upkeep. It's this repetitive maintenance that ends up costing more. Protective tarpaulins mean less regular, in-depth maintenance. That's where the savings come in.
